Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Kisumu
Leave Nairobi in the morning, have lunch at Kericho. Walk in the tea plantations then drive via Lwanda Magere (the Luo warrior who was killed and turned into a stone), continue to Kisumu for dinner and overnight at the Hotel. [ B,L,D]

Day 2: Ndere Island National Park
After breakfast leave for Kaloka beach as you walk down the lake you can chat with local people on the way. Arrive at the beach at around 9.00 am and then continue to the Island by boat. Explore in search of large crocodiles, impalas and swamp antelopes, birds etc. Ndere (meeting place) according to Luo legendary is the place Mikaye the mother of the Luo tribe rested after her long journey down the Nile valley. In the evening go fishing with the local fishermen. Overnight at Kaloka beach. [ B,L,D]

Day 3: Kisumu Full Day
You will spend a full day in Kisumu visiting Dunga Beach which is famous all over Nyanza for the sale of Fish. You will have an opportunity to interact with the local fishermen and get to know the culture around the fishing beaches. Proceed to the Museum where you will get to see different artifacts of the various tribes that occupy Western Kenya especially the Luo. Lunch in the hotel. In the afternoon you can have a hike at Riat Hills to get a glimpse of the Greater Kisumu City. Dinner in the hotel, after dinner, optional visit to a Discotheque or visit a live band and have a feel of Kisumu-by-night or retire for thwe day. [ B,L,D]

Day 4 Kisumu To Bungoma
After breakfast we depart for Kakamega to visit the famous Bukusu tribe. As circumcision period approaches in the month of August, Bungoma County residents are anxiously waiting to practice traditional male circumcision (the cut) where 2000 initiates are expected to be circumcised. A meeting wih the bukusu elders will give you the history of this tradional practice that is still practiced to date. [ B,L,D]

Day 5 bungoma to Kakamega
A trip to Kakamega is never complete without a visit to the Khayega and Malinya grounds to behold the popular bull fighting spectacle practiced among the Isukha and Idako tribes. Unlike the Spanish corrida de toros where man fights bull, the Kakamega bull-fighting involves bulls fighting each other. Over night at your hotel. [ B,L,D]

Day 6 kakamega to lake Baringo
After breakfast you depart for Lake Baringo the home land of The Chamus (Njemps) tribe. lives in Baringo. Njemps are unique people who are the only pastoral, cattle herding, tribe who also fish unlike the other pastoralist tribes where eating fish is a taboo. The Njemps are linguistically related to both the Maasai and the Samburu, and possibly genetically related to one, or both of these tribes here you will interact with the local people and have a feel of their traditional canoes. Day 7 Lake Baringo To Lake Bogoria
After breakfast you visit the lake Bogoria. The physical spectacle of the Lake is quite something with a largely barren, baking wilderness of scrub and rocks, from which a series of furious hot springs erupt on the western shore, while the opposite shore is backed by the rising walls of the Siracho mountain range.
Later in the afternoon proceed to Lake Nakuru for your overnight stay. [ B,L,D]

Day 8 Lake Nakuru to Nairobi
The morning is spent viewing game in the lake nakuru national park. Lake Nakuru is among Kenya’s finest national parks. Flanked by rocky escarpments, pockets of acacia forest and at least one waterfall, the park is gorgeous year-round and is home to both black and white rhinos, lions, leopards, hippos and endangered Rothschild’s giraffes.
After lunch depart for Nairobi arriving early evening. [ B,L,D]
