8-Day Kenya Paradise Safari
(Amboseli / Aberdares / Samburu / Nakuru / Maasai Mara)
In this tour you will visit the following areas. Amboseli, renowned for its large herds of free-ranging African elephants, Lake Nakuru, a shallow alkaline lake in the Rift Valley renowned for its spectacular flamingo population, Mara Mara, the most spectacular event of natural world: the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture and Samburu, home to the third of Kenya’s giraffe species – the rare Reticulated Giraffe.
Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park
Early morning pick-up from your hotel and depart for Amboseli National Park. While you drive to Amboseli and weather permitting you shall get a view of the magnificent Mount Kilimanjaro with its snowcapped peaks. This is the also the home the re-known Maasai community and here you will have an opportunity to learn more on the Maasai culture and indigenous lifestyle.
Amboseli National Park, the second most popular animal park after Maasai Mara, is 260km (160 miles) from Nairobi, on the border with the neighboring country of Tanzania. Its magnificent situation at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro combined with its excellent opportunities to view Kenya’s animals, make it one of the most-visited safari parks in Kenya.
Day 2: Amboseli – Aberdares National Park
Depart Amboseli in the morning and drive back towards Nairobi and head to the Aberdares ranges. You will be arriving at Aberdares Country Club hotel for a hot lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will be transferred to The Ark Lodge for an overnight game viewing. Overnight at The Ark Lodge
The Ark Lodge is nestled deep in the forests of Aberdares National Park on the path of an ancient elephant migratory route between the Aberdares Mountains and Mount Kenya and is strategically located right in front of a watering hole and salt lick. The forest is home to many wildlife species that include elephant, rhino, warthog, bush pig and giant forest hog, waterbuck, duiker, bongo, and reedbuck.
Day 3: Aberdares – Samburu National Reserve
After breakfast head north across the equator to Samburu National Reserve arriving at Samburu Sentrim Lodge in time lunch. Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.
The highlights of Samburu game reserve is the spectacular scenic beauty, rivers and forests. It is an area where the local people have a rich and colorful heritage.
The reserves have numerous permanent springs and a wealth of wildlife which includes leopard, hippo, elephant, lion, grevy zebra and crocodile in the Ewaso Nyiro River. Over 365 species of birds have been identified in the reserve.
Day 4: Samburu National Reserve Full day game drives
Full day in Samburu, with an early morning and late afternoon game drive
Samburu is home to the third of Kenya’s giraffe species – the rare Reticulated Giraffe (only found in the Northern parks). It’s also a beautiful and game abundant park, home to rarely found species such as the Beisa Oryx, Grevy’s zebra and blue-necked Somali ostrich. Optional activities include a visit to a local Samburu village, camel riding and guided nature and bird.
Day 5: Samburu – Lake Nakuru National Park
Depart Samburu in the morning and drive to the floor of the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park making a brief stop at Nyahururu Thomson Falls. Arrive at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.
Lake Nakuru is a shallow alkaline lake in the Rift Valley renowned for its spectacular flamingo population. The lake is famed as one of the world’s greatest ornithological spectacles. Lake Nakuru National Park is home to zebras, gazelles, Rothschild giraffe, impala, black and white rhino sanctuary and other large mammals.
Day 6: Nakuru-Maasai Mara game reserve
Enjoy breakfast and then check-out of the lodge. Experience a morning game drive as we travel approximately 3-4 hours to Maasai Mara National Reserve. Along the way have a chance to stop and visit Lake Naivasha. Arrive and check in for lunch, relax, freshen up and then head out for an evening game drive. Dinner and your overnight stay at the camp.
The Maasai Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to comprehend over 450 species of animals have been recorded here! You will easily spot lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephants.
It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place: the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna.
Day 7: Maasai Mara with full day game drives
After breakfast depart for a full day spent, viewing the great predators and explore the parks amazingly high concentration of wild animals. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive Cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs. During the stay we also have an optional opportunity to visit a village of the Masai people to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 8: Maasai Mara – Nairobi
Before breakfast take part in your last game drive. Come back for breakfast, check out and depart for Nairobi. You will make a lunch break stop at the Great Rift Valley for some African BBQ at a local restaurant. Visit a souvenir market (if time allows). Later in the afternoon arrive in Nairobi where your safari will end.
