4-Day Fantastic Kenya Safari
(4-Days Lake Nakuru / Maasai Mara)
This fantastic safari will take us through Lake Nakuru, a shallow alkaline lake in the Rift Valley renowned for its spectacular flamingo population and also one of the very few places in Africa to see the White Rhino and rare Rothschild Giraffe. Maasai Mara offers abundance wildlife and it’s also where the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place; the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture.
Day 1: Nairobi – Lake Nakuru National Park
We shall drive through the floor of the Great Rift Valley from Nairobi, while stopping on the way to admire the breathtaking views of the escarpment. We arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park in time for a mid-morning game drive and there after lunch at our lodge/camp. Relax at your accommodation after lunch till 1600hrs for a late afternoon game drive followed by dinner and overnight.
Lake Nakuru National Park is best known for its vast and dynamic variety of bird life, over 400 birds’ species exist here, White Pelicans, Plovers, Egrets and Marabou Stork including the beautiful flamingo! You will interact with four of the Big Five at the park, excluding the elephant. It is also one of the very few places in Africa to see the White Rhino and rare Rothschild Giraffe. As you go further inside the park there is a spectacular area called “Out of Africa” where you experience an amazing view of part of the Great Rift Valley. The park is also home to the olive baboon, an amazing animal to see!
Day 2: Lake Nakuru National Park – Maasai Mara National Reserve
Depart Lake Nakuru after breakfast and drive further along the floor of the Rift Valley to Maasai Mara Game Reserve arriving at in time for lunch. Afternoon game viewing. Dinner and overnight at the camp/lodge
The Maasai Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to comprehend – indeed, over 450 species of animals have been recorded here! You will easily spot lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephants. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place: the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna – lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures.
Day 3: Maasai Mara National Reserve
Spend the day in Maasai Mara, Kenya’s most popular game sanctuary where you will have the best opportunity of spotting the Big Five – lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant. You can also decide to take an optional hot air balloon ride (US$450 per person); you will also have the option of visiting a local Maasai village (US$30 per person).
Day 4: Maasai Mara – Nairobi
Check-out after breakfast and drive back to Nairobi arriving approx. 13:00 hrs where you will be dropped at the hotel / the airport to check-in for your onward flight home.
