Do you have any idea about which city is the fastest growing tourism city in 2017?
With a record 14% growth in its tourism, Chongqing is a Yangtze River port in southwest China that has become the world’s fastest-growing tourism city. Here are a few reasons why!
Have you ever heard of a “Spicy hotpot”? It’s a delicious chili pepper tripe broth, hence the “spicy” title. Chongqing hotpot is one of the biggest tourism draws to the city. In fact, it has become so popular, that the city has issued an official set of guidelines on how to properly serve the appetizing bowls of hot exquisiteness. For example, how long raw ingredients need to be dipped in the boiling brew before they should be eaten. Doesn’t that sound like a step up from your regular ol’ chicken noodle soup?
And speaking of old, Chongqing has given many of its existing attractions a facelift. They’ve transformed about a dozen abandoned factory sites into creative and cultural centers. For instance, The Yangtze River Cableway was renovated and rebranded as a tourist landmark before the attraction welcomed more than 2.8 million visitors between January and September this year. They’ve also transformed about a dozen abandoned factory sites into creative and cultural centers, like Eling Park and Maoer’ Creation & Art Park.
As an added bonus, the city’s tourism bureau is building a Six Flags theme park in 2020, along with 10 large-scale tourism projects around the city. Now, if that doesn’t sky-rocket the city’s tourism to the moon, I don’t know what will!
